Thank to all who had a part in our First Annual OARBC Bike for Youth Scholarship Ride on September 13, 2008.  Riders in the south from London, Ohio to Xenia enjoyed a pleasant overcast morning.  Riders in the north between Kipton and Elyria biked heroically in a downpour on the heels of Hurricane Ike.  At least 8 churches were represented by this effort.

 

Seventeen riders raised over $1400 in scholarship monies. Beside the riders, another 13 helped in a variety of ways, manning snack stations, providing lunches, taking pictures, contributing toward these expenses, as well as being prepared to help any “disabled” bikers. It appears that only Dave fell into this category, with his bike giving out after 20 miles, the rear axle refusing to turn even one more revolution. But every rider seemed to enjoy his and her part.
