Dear Friends,
With a deep sense of gratitude and joy I write this letter – gratitude because of your generosity toward the new “OARBCMobile,” and joy because your giving signals a wholesome relationship with the OARBC. We did have a real need – the 2002 Buick had 237,650+ miles on it - and you rose to meet it! Thank you.
Beyond the meeting of this need, however, I rejoice truly in the friendship I sense among our churches. I think it very commendable that you all care enough about one another that you would put and keep a man on the road to service the needs of your fellow churches. Such care toward one another gives me great joy and makes me glad to be connected with you. Such care reflects a New Testament “one-anotherness.” In reality, you have provided a car not for Pat and me personally, but for your brothers and sisters across Ohio to whom this car will carry us. To top it off, you did it without pressure – freely and voluntarily.
Specifically, thirty nine OARBC churches, one area Fellowship, and four individuals participated in the offering, giving a total of $20,804.53. The gifts ranged from $25.00 to $3000.00. The Council of 12 led the way with ten of their twelve churches participating. In addition, the Brooklyn Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York, designated the honorarium from my speaking at their fall Bible Conference to the car fund ($1050.00). Let’s just praise the Lord!
