Cleveland (Harvard Rd.) to Akron-Canton
To see Towpath Trail Maps, follow links in First Paragraph

Enjoy the beauty of this scenic trail following a 5.7 mile portion of the Ohio and Erie Canal in the Cleveland Metroparks and another 3 mile section of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The trail winds its way along the canal or river – and occasionally, both can be seen on either side of the trail.

Family Friendly! Nearly 18- mile or any smaller segment, if you choose to turn around sooner.

This is a very Family Friendly trail – the Cleveland Parks portion is paved; the National Park portion has a nice fine gravel surface. Both are quite level. Start time 9:00 am. Riders begin at the Canal Visitor Center in the national park. Riders who want to cover the 18-mile stretch will ride 1 1/4 mile south to the closed section, then back north, past the Visitor Center, then north 1.8 miles to Rockside Road and Lock 39 where the trail connects to the Cleveland Metroparks Towpath Trail . From there the trail is paved and continues another 5.7 miles to Harvard Avenue – a total of 7.5 miles. Snacks and water will be available at the Harvard turn-around. Riders will then retrace the trail back to the Canal Visitor Center. Note: An ice cream shop is very close to the trail at Rockside Road.

Engage friends to sponsor you so much per mile. All sponsor money goes toward the youth scholarships. Registration money covers expenses for the ride. All riders will begin in the National Park at the Canal Visitor Center. Registration will take place outside the Center near the parking lot. It is always wise to carry water or snacks with you.
